The persistence of pain and progressive limitation of mobility despite physiotherapy recommend performing an MRI of the shoulder that allows the diagnosis to be specified. The MRI is conclusive in the presence of AVN (avascular necrosis) of the humeral head of the shoulder with involvement of the articular surface.
In this situation, the option to improve pain and mobility is the implantation of a prosthesis to cover the articular surface.
This option is advisable in a young patient and with this diagnosis as it is the one that involves the least bone loss.
After the postoperative process, the patient reported a progressive improvement in pain and recovered shoulder mobility.
